Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has said that were it not for Ruto's intervention, Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza would not have survived impeachment.

Speaking on Sunday during an interdenominational church service held at Nanyuki Stadium, Waiguru said that fighting barely four months in the new government would be a bad show.

"I want to thank you President Ruto because if it were not for you my sister Kawira would not have survived. We promised to unite as governors to support Mwangaza," she said.

She said that governors and other leaders made calls to the President to intervene for Mwangaza during her ouster.

Waiguru called on leaders to be patient as Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other leaders intervened to unite Meru's leadership.

Mwangaza had been accused of nepotism, illegal appointments, unlawful dismissal of the constitution and statutory functions of county organs.

She was also accused of appointing her husband Murega Baicu as the Hustlers Ambassador and Youth Patron alongside other roadside appointments of county workers.

The relationship between the governor and Meru leaders especially the MCAs had taken a left turn.

The Senate rejected the impeachment of Mwangaza on the basis that the charges were not substantiated.

In a report tabled by the Committee chairperson Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, it said Meru MCAs had failed to provide enough evidence to back their allegations.
