Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said he has brought the crisis in Meru county leadership before God.
Gachagua said he visited Mt Kenya to beseech God to give him wisdom as he tries to bring peace between Governor Kawira Mwangaza and the MCAs.
"Finally, I have taken the opportunity this morning to cry before God for the people of Meru where there are challenges of leadership threatening development, Meru County is very dear to President William Ruto and I, " Gachagua said.
Gachagua said the disunity in the county threatens its development and he is working to restore unity among the leaders.
"The crisis of the leadership in Meru portends danger for the development of the people. President William Ruto assigned me the duty to broker peace among the leaders, a journey that has already started," Gachagua said.
"I have come here to cry before God to give me the wisdom to fulfill the assignment that the President has given me for the people of Meru," Gachagua said.
Gachagua said the people of Meru are very good, hardworking and dignified so they deserve development not leadership tussles.
He added that development happen when there is disunity.
"I have prayed to God to touch the hearts of our leaders in Meru for them to put aside their differences for the benefit of the people of Meru," he said.
He said he is hopeful that God has heard his prayer and that Meru leaders will put aside their differences for the benefit of the people.
