Earlier, Speakers Amason Kingi and Moses Wetang'ula forwarded the names of nine elected EALA MPs to the EALA clerk.

This was after clerk of the Senate Jeremiah Nyengenye asked the court to dismiss the case filed challenging the list of the elected EALA members.

Kau Quentin Mengo moved to court to challenge the list for lack of regional balance.

He said the members were elected on November 17 and thereafter were declared as elected by the National Assembly and Senate.

“In a joint letter dated November 21, the Speakers of both houses in their capacity as returning officers of EALA election, jointly transmitted to the clerk of the EALA the names of the nine nominees as duly elected by Parliament as members of EALA,” the affidavit read.
