President William Ruto has asked Kenyans  not to be swayed into politics that will divide the country.

Speaking in Machakos on Wednesday, he said that Kenyans should unite and support the government plans of development.

"Msikubali kuletewa na kuhusishwa na siasa ya utengano ( Don't allow to be involved in politics of division)," Ruto said.

His remarks comes on the day when ODM party leader Raila Odinga begins the anti-Ruto rally.

According to Raila, December 7, will mark the start of a series of consultations on the state of the nation, following the removal of the commissioners.

The Azimio leader said the first rally will be held at Kamkunji Grounds in Nairobi and the second will be held at the same venue on December 12.

Ruto has said his government will not be blackmailed by Azimio leader Raila Odinga through planned protests.

However, the president said the opposition chief’s planned rallies will not distract his transformative agenda.

Ruto had earlier directed Interior CS Kithure Kindiki to even  provide enough security during their planned demonstrations.

However, Kenya Kwanza politicians have claimed that the protests were a move by Raila to initiate handshake .

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei earlier  claimed that Raila's end game was to initiate a forced handshake with Ruto’s government, which according to him, shall not happen.

"The end game of Tinga is a handshake/ Nusu mkate government which shall not happen," he said.

The Senator urged Ruto to remain firm and not be duped into a forced handshake by Azimio.

“Don’t be intimidated or blackmailed into a forced handshake. That arrangement does not exist,” he said.
