Tetu MP Geoffrey Wandeto has said Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza should have created a good relationship with MCAs from the beginning.

Speaking in an interview on Monday, Wandeto said since Mwangaza was an independent candidate, she should have tried to do things differently.

"I think Mwangaza's case is a very good example of the perils of being an independent candidate, or trying to operate outside the normal party system," he said.

"As an independent candidate, she should have played the game very differently. I think the first thing she should have done, is to reach out to the MCAs and ensure they have a very good work relations."

Wandeto added that Mwangaza's chest thumping will not solve anything in the county.

"I think the chest thumping, which we saw at the beginning, although my colleague here says its a sign of being strong, maybe it is not the way to get started," he said.

The MP said Mwangaza cannot always expect the courts to protect her and should derive ways to work with the MCAs for the county's development.

"She cannot live the next five years with protection of the court. At some point she will still have to face the same MCAs," he said.

"The challenge is for her to reach out and build bridges. But also her reaching out to the President is good as we all want to see peace in the country."

On November 30, a Meru court barred an impeachment motion tabled by MCAs against Mwangaza.

The ruling was made by Justice Wamae Cherere who said the motion did not follow the correct procedure in initiating a removal against the governor.

Mwangaza had earlier said she was not scared as the motion presented her with a perfect opportunity to expose the truth.

"We are not concerned about all these allegations flying around, we are busy working. Lawyers will face fellow lawyers but the truth cannot be hidden," she said.
