Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has remained unfazed following the approval of an impeachment motion against her.

Sixty-eight out of 69 county representatives signed the motion on Tuesday kickstarting the process to remove her from office.

The MCSs have accused the first-time governor of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

But on Wednesday, Kawira said that she is not scared since the motion has presented her with a perfect opportunity to expose the truth.

"We are not concerned about all these allegations flying around, we are busy working. Lawyers will face fellow lawyers but one thing for sure is that the truth cannot be hidden," Kawira said.

The motion tabled by Abogeta MCA Dennis Kiogora has listed a number of alleged violations against Kawira.

They range from nepotism, illegal appointments, unlawful dismissals, incitement, bullying, vilification and misleading campaigns against other leaders.

Others are forceful entry into the assembly precincts and mobilisation of unlawful riots against MCAs, usurpation of the constitutional and statutory functions of county organs and violation of public finance management laws and misconduct relating to the nomination of CECs.

In an affidavit, Kiogora attached various documents to back his claims arguing this has been occasioned by complaints.

But Kawira downplayed the magnitude of the allegations saying the motion is an opportune chance to clear her name once and for all.

"A day is coming and we will display for all and sundry so that the world knows the truth," Kawira said during a public forum.

The governor said even with the impeachment staring down at her, she has remained steadfast in running county affairs without fail saying her victory came from God no man can take it away.

"We are working na serikali ya mama iko imara. Yule anataka kusimamisha kazi yake kwa sababau ya siasa asimamishe lakini kila mtu atawajibika kivyake," Kawira said.
