Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza said sorry seventy times in court to represent the 69 MCAs and county assembly speaker who sought to impeach her.

In a video on Wednesday, hours after a Meru court barred the impeachment motion against her, Kawira counted from one to 70 as his supporters responded by saying the word 'sorry.'

"66...sorry, 69...sorry....70...sorry," they sang along.

Justice Wamae Cherere, who issued the ruling, said the motion did not follow the correct procedure in initiating an ouster bid against the governor.

"Upon considering the application and preliminary objection and after hearing the presentations of the council," Wamae said.

"This court finds that the procedure adopted by the respondent to process the proposed motion of impeachment is flawed and has the effect of violating her constitutional rights."

A motion to impeach Kawira was formally been tabled at the county assembly on November 22.

Sixty eight MCAs signed the petition, one absconded the exercise.

The motion was tabled by Abogeta MCA Dennis Kiogora who is also the minority leader.

It also emerged that the motion to impeach Kawira had already passed even as the House through an advert invited for views from the public on the impending motion.
