Kitui Governor Julius Malombe on Tuesday explained why he has not shown the door county executive members who served under her predecessor Charity Ngilu.

Malombe said he was in no hurry to send the executives packing because they were good professionals.

He said he is strategic by allowing Ngilu’s team to serve under him for some time to avoid a lacuna that could have disoriented the county operations.

Malombe was speaking to the media in his office on Tuesday.

He, however, said Kitui people should not worry as by January next year he will have a fully constituted government with his appointed CECMs and chief officers.

“Experience tells me that I could have committed a regrettable mistake had I sacked the CECM on assuming office because some things could not have worked. I cannot send a supplementary budget to the assembly without the cabinet approval,” he said.

“The Ngilu-appointed cabinet members are the ones who come up with a supplementary budget but under my leadership."

He lauded the credentials of the CECM who were appointed by Ngilu saying some of them not only had masters but doctorates.

He described them as qualified professionals who have so far worked well with him.

He said for the positions of chief officer, the county public service board had advertised for the vacancies and the occupants will assume office once the board is done with them and consequently vetted by the county assembly.
