Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed claims that he had reached out to the President-elect William Ruto.

Kalonzo said the rumours on social media were a creation of individuals with ill motive.

He said he will meet Ruto openly at the right time, but after consulting Wiper and Azimio leadership.

"Ruto came to see me when I lost my father in 2018. Now, they put that I went to see him," Kalonzo said.

The former vice president addressed mourners during a burial ceremony at Mukalala village in Yatta, Machakos County on Saturday.

"If I want to meet him, I will do it openly after meeting with Azimio and Wiper members. We forgive you, we have every reason to forgive each other as we lay to rest mama Elizabeth," Kalonzo said.

He congratulated Ruto stating that they respect him.

"We didn't agree with the Supreme Court verdict, but we abide by it. We will swallow our bitterness for the sake of this country."

He said they were ready to be in the opposition as he strategises on the way forward.

Kalonzo said he had officially started his presidential campaigns ahead of 2027.

"We will give Yatta dam a priority. Even if we will be in opposition, we will push for its construction among other things," he said.

"It is good for us to be in the opposition to deal with these people. Five years is a short time, we are going to serve in opposition to our level best."
