Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo has said he is ready to be criticized concerning his county government projects.

However, he emphasized that the criticism should not be biased but objective.

I’m ready to be criticized on any Government project provided the criticism will not be biased,” Guyo said.

The Governor was speaking during a meeting at his office on Thursday with journalists from different media houses.

The Governor also urged the media to provide information that will be aimed at improving service delivery for County residents.

Guyo assured the media fraternity of his willingness to partner with them in the effort to deliver service to the community.

“I realize the critical role you ( media) play in the society of informing, educating, and entertaining the community and hence my government is ready to work with you,” he added.

Going further, the Governor also urged the media to provide information that will be aimed at improving service delivery for County residents.

Additionally, the Governor reminded them of the importance of adhering to the code of Ethics for Journalists and reporters.

I have in the just concluded campaign, witnessed some of you broadcasting biased and inflammatory contents which would have led to tribal conflicts, kindly let's strive to detach ourselves from such practices but instead let us be focused,” Guyo added.

At the same time, he pledged to promote and lead in the provision of integrated, preventive, curative and rehabilitative healthcare services in the county.

Deputy Governor James Lowasa who made an impromptu visit to the Garbatulla health facility assured that the County will heavily invest and upgrade all the facilities.

He said plans are underway to upgrade Isiolo's teaching and referral facility to level 5 while Merti and Garbatula are to be upgraded to level 4 hospitals.

“I was impressed with the commitment of health officers in the respective hospitals as most of them had reported in their work stations and were serving the patients effectively,” Lowasa added.

This comes a week after the governor visited the Isiolo referral facility last week.

The night impromptu visit led to the shocking discovery of the county's health system.

However, all was not well as he discovered only one doctor in the night shit.

It was noted that only one doctor was on duty, despite a good number being assigned in various workstations, especially the casualty department.

Making the situation worse, the pharmacy department was closed with no employees at the facility.

In an attempt to streamline the issue, the Governor issued directives to the ICTRH MED-SUP and the current CEC health to compile a list of health workers who were supposed to be on duty but deliberately absconded for immediate disciplinary action.
