President-elect William Ruto on Wednesday expressed gratitude to God following his victory in the August 9, elections.]

Speaking at Deputy President's Official Karen residence, Ruto said without God, their victory would not have happened

"We owe our victory in the just concluded election to God. We will continue working with the religious leaders to better the lives of Kenyans," Ruto said.

The clergy present were  Bishop Emeritus of African Inland Church Kenya, Rev Silas Yego, Philip Anyolo, Archbishop Antony Muheria, Supkem National Chairman Hassan Ole Naado, Bishop Robert Lang’at and Bishop Ogonyo Ngede among others.

The religious leaders congratulated him on his win and asked Kenyans to remain calm.

The group met Ruto just two days after IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati declared him President-elect.
