Tanzania president Samia Suluhu and Uganda president Yoweri Museveni are among foreign leaders who have congratulated President-elect William Ruto.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Suluhu expressed confidence that Ruto will be a reputable leader.

"I congratulate the people of Kenya on their peaceful general election and the subsequent announcement of Williams Ruto as President-elect," she said in a tweet.

"We look forward to continuing working together with our brothers and sisters in Kenya to strengthen our historically close ties. Tuko pamoja," she added.

Yoweri, on the other hand, said Uganda is still committed to partner with Kenya and the bilateral cooperation will score tremendous achievements.

"On behalf of all Ugandans, I congratulate Your Excellency William Ruto upon your election as the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya."

"Further to my telephone call last night upon your victory, I wish to reassure you of Uganda’s commitment to continue partnering with Kenya in advancing regional and continental agenda through the East African Community, African Union and other multilateral platforms," he said.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati on Monday after some fracas at Bomas of Kenya tallying centre declared Ruto as the president-elect.

Ruto garnered 7,176,141 votes representing 50.49 per cent of the total vote, while his rival, Raila Odinga getting 6,942,930, which was 48.85 per cent of the vote.

However, Raila’s chief agent Kanchory Saitabao accused the IEBC and chairman Wafula Chebukati of tampering with election results.

As Chebukati was making the announcement, four IEBC commissioners were at Serena Hotel, where they disputed the presidential election results.

The four, led by commissioner Juliana Cherera, said they cannot take ownership of the results because of the opaque nature they have been handled.

"We have done the 2022 general election in the most efficient manner. We have ensured that all the challenges have been contained," commissioner Juliana Cherera said during a hastily arranged press briefing.
