Long-serving Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi has lost the seat.

The 77-year-old who has held the seat for decades lost the contest to Japhet Nyakundi of UDA.

The 33-year old engineer kicked out the Jubilee Party stalwart with 11,834 votes against Angweny's 8,260 votes in the hotly contested poll.

His loss was the second for the Jubilee party in Kisii after Richard Tongi of Nyaribari Chache.

Tongi suffered a dramatic loss in the Tuesday election to Zaheer Jhanda of UDA who won the seat.

Nyakundi also eclipsed Kanu-era tycoon, Geoffrey Asanyo, who had shifted his political base from Nakuru.

In an interview with the Star, the MP-elect lauded the electorate for trusting him with leadership.

He promised a dynamic shift in engaging them and doing development projects.

"My priority would be improving the road network, distributing more bursaries and improving educational standards," Nyakundi said.

Marani MCA-elect Dennis Ombachi assured Nyakundi of support.
