IEBC has allowed for the re-tally of Kirinyaga county gubernatorial results in Gichugu constituency following a stalemate over rigging claims.

This is after the request made by independent candidate Wangui Ngirici, through her lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, sailed through.

Kirinyaga governor Ann Waiguru also made her way into the centre as she took on the outgoing woman rep for crying foul.

She maintains that she has vanquished her with over 15,000 in the constituency as that is her home turf.

"She has only defeated me in Ndia with roughly a thousand votes and in Mwea with over 6,000. However, I defeated her in Gichugu with over 15,000 votes."

The governor accused Ngirici of disrupting the process as she is sensing defeat.

Wangui had earlier accused the returning officer of poll rigging in favour of Waiguru.

She claimed Waiguru's votes were inflated by 6,000 votes in the constituency. The re-tally of votes is currently ongoing.
