Kieni Member of parliament Kanini Kega claims UDA presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua had a role in the destruction of his billboard in Nyeri county.

Kega is defending his seat in the August 9, polls.

In a statement on Saturday, Kega said that even though his billboard was destroyed, he is confident of winning the seat.

"Rigathi Gachagua, Kanini's name is engraved in my people's hearts,s= not Billboards! Defacing my Billboards won't help you. I assure you that God willing on the 10th I will be in the 13th Parliament," Kega said.

Gachagua has however dismissed Kega's remarks.

While campaigning in Nyeri on Saturday, the Mathira MP told off Kega saying he is not in his league.

Gachagua said the MP has failed the residents of the region promising to deliver more development than what the MP has done for the two terms he has been in office.

Gachagua while campaigning in the Kieni constituency urged residents to support the UDA candidate for the seat.

“Reciprocate by giving these people the respect they have given you by electing you for ten years. Stop forcing them to elect an 80-year-old man,” Gachagua said.

He said it is only by electing UDA candidate s that he will be able to coordinate development activities.

Gachagua and Kega have recently been embroiled in a war of words.

While Kega has been rooting for ODM leader Raila Odinga's presidential bid, Gachagua has pitched a tent in Mt Kenya to establish himself as the region's kingpin.
