Deputy President William Ruto has responded to continued calls by Azimio leader Raila Odinga for the inclusion of a manual voter register in the August 9 polls.

The Azimio leader had insisted that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) must provide the manual register as a backup for elections to be held.

In a statement on Wednesday, Ruto said the former Prime minister was lashing out at everyone in preparation to reject the results.

He added that this demonstrates the true colours of their competitors.

"They are in panic highlighting their true colours. They are now threatening everyone so that they reject election results," Ruto said in a tweet.

Speaking in Kiambu on Wednesday, the former PM said that a manual register must be availed to complement the digital register on election day.

He added that if this was not possible, then there will be no election.

"We must have a manual register along with biometric identification of the voters on that polling day. Kama si hivyo, hakuna uchaguzi (If it's not like that, there will be no election)," Raila said.

He alleged of a plot between IEBC and DP Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza Alliance to rig the election.

"They have selected about ten thousand polling station where they will stuff about 200 ballots each so that they can have falsify two million votes," Raila claimed.

This followed claims by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, that Kenya Kwanza's Moses Wetang'ula met IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati in Karen to discuss the ballot tender deal.

Junet claimed that a deal was hammered out during the meeting to have Greek ballot printing firm,  Inform Lykos (Hellas), granted the tender to supply 200 million ballot papers.

He alleged that the officials of the Greek firm visited Kenya disguising themselves as potential investors in Bungoma County.

"When IEBC announced ballot papers tender you sent someone called Makokha Abdalla to Greece and you invited those guys from Greece to Kenya pretending to be investors in Bungoma. They had come for a deal with you," he said.

Wetang'ula on Wednesday denied any knowledge of Abdalla even as he dismissed claims by Junet as "false and malicious".
