Meru governor candidate Kawira Mwangaza says Governor Kiraitu Murungi has ran out of ideas and turned to courts to punish opponents.

She said Kiraitu has allegedly filed eight cases against her over the last four years, which she has won some while others are before the court.

The Meru Woman Representative spoke on Monday during a campaign rally in Buuri, Meru.

She however urged Kiraitu not to fear and anticipate for the imminent fall.

“I am an independent candidate. My symbol is a woman holding a child. To our dear father Kiraitu, you will no longer rule Meru. We will be coming to your home to seek advice and tell you how Meru has grown.

“I will offer good leadership. I will incorporate Senator Mithika Linturi in my government once I win. I have two degrees and if one forges documents, we have CID and EACC to investigate,” Mwangaza said.

In May, the Meru High Court declined to stop Linturi and Mwangaza, who were allegedly sued by residents for lack of degrees.

Petitioner Dickson Mwenda had said in court that Mwangaza and her running mate Isaac M’Ethinkia did not have valid academic papers and ought to be blocked from vying.

Mwangaza and M’Ethinkia however filed a preliminary objection before justice Edward Muriithi, disputing the claims.

The duo however blamed Kiraitu for their woes.

“This is God's miracle. The devil fought us but we are now cleared to run for Meru governor. We ask God's grace, acceptance and strength to mount campaigns," Mwangaza said.

She said she will now rest easy without fear that her certificate would be snatched.

"We are not special but its God’s doing. Thank you Meru people for praying for us and supporting us,” Mwangaza said at the IEBC Meru offices.

She said she has prudently used NGAAF funds to transform and empower people, earning her a second rank in performance for the last three consecutive years.

Mwangaza said she is a sure bet and with billions under her control, Meru will change for the better.

She however said Kiraitu's regime has no tangible developments despite getting billions from the National Treasury over the last five years.

The candidate said the devil is against the liberation of Meru people from the slavery of the current governor.

She however urged residents to be peaceful and give everyone a chance as insults and stone throwing won't translate to votes.
