A man was stabbed and killed during a robbery incident near Kasarani stadium in Nairobi.

The victim, identified as John Waweru, was in the company of his friend when they were confronted by a gang that was armed with knives.

One of the victims managed to escape to safety leaving Waweru in the hands of the gang as they struggled.

The thugs stabbed him in the chest and stomach before robbing him of his cash and mobile phone.

Police say the gang escaped toward Lucky Summer soon after the robbery.

The victim was pronounced dead in hospital, and no arrest has been made. Police say a hunt for the gang members is ongoing.

Elsewhere, a night guard was shot dead by unknown gunmen in an attack in Huruma area, Nairobi.

The guard was on duty when he was confronted by the attackers and shot twice in the jaw.

The gang escaped without stealing anything from him. Police suspect he was eliminated for what he may have known, or he had stopped a planned robbery.

The body was moved to the mortuary as police hunt for the attackers. Police said they are yet to know the motive of the attack.

A suspected thug was shot and killed, and two handcuffs and a pistol were found on him in Dandora, Nairobi.

The suspect is said to have been in the company of two others and had been robbing locals when police were informed of the incidents.

Police said the suspects had been linked to a series of other robberies in the area and that two others managed to escape on foot.

The body was moved to the mortuary as police launch hunt for the other accomplices.
