Ruto's UDA opens applications for party nomination

The United Democratic Alliance Party said members have until May 24, to apply

United Democratic Alliance Party has invited interested members to apply to be considered for nomination across all elective positions.

The party said applicants wishing to be nominated to the National Assembly, Senate or the County Assemblies must be bona fide members of the party and must submit applications by May 24.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Deputy President William Ruto led party said the nomination list will be compiled in accordance with the Kenyan Constitution and Article 7 of the UDA nomination and Election rules.

“UDA invites qualifies party members to apply for the party list nominations in the 47 county assemblies, National Assembly and Senate pursuant to article 97(1) (c), 98(1)(b)(c) and (d) and 177 (1)(b) and (c) of the Kenyan Constitution and Article 7 of the UDA nomination and Election Rules,” reads the notice.

According to Article 90 (1), elections for the seats in Parliament provided for the members of county assemblies under 177 (1) (b) and (c), shall be on the basis of proportional representation by use of party lists.

Article 97 (1)(c) and 98(b)(c), provides elections for the seats in Parliament and Senate, while for the members of county assemblies under 177 (1) (b) and (c), shall be on the basis of proportional representation by use of party lists.

Twelve posts are available for nomination of members to the National Assembly for the youth, persons with disabilities and workers.

Senate nominees include 16 women, two youth representatives (one man and one female) and two (a male and a female) representing persons with disabilities.

The nominees to County Assemblies include representatives under the gender top-up category for each County Assembly and a representative of marginalised groups including persons with disabilities and the youth.

The interested applicants can download application forms from the party website.

All applicants must provide copies of National Identity cards/passport, a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV), EACC self declaration form, and a Certificate of good conduct.
