Collect stones near Raila's chopper for evidence- Shollei to DCI

They were just asked to shed light on what is happening, she said.

In Summary

• Shollei said the fact that MPs Oscar Sudi, Caleb Kositany and Speaker David Kiplagat were summoned does not mean they are guilty.

• She added that the stoning of the former Prime Minister's chopper was the doing of a few criminal elements, which each society has.

Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Shollei has told the DCI to collect the stones around ODM leader Raila Odinga's chopper and take them for forensic analysis.

According to her, it's the only way the DCI would be able to nab the suspects who stoned Raila's chopper on Friday.

She said the stones have fingerprints that will be used to identify the culprits.

"What we need is to allow DCI to undertake its own investigations. I saw one mark of a stone on the chopper, that stone either went into the chopper or fell right near the chopper. I hope that was collected for fingerprint check and yes that is in the hands of DCI."

Speaking on KTN News, Shollei said the fact that MPs Oscar Sudi, Caleb Kositany and Speaker David Kiplagat were summoned does not mean they are guilty.

"They were just asked to shed light on what is happening," she said.

She said the DCI should also use video footage that shows people who were around Raila's helicopter to filter out the suspects who stoned the chopper.

"If DCI is doing their investigations, they have footage of persons who were around that helicopter, they have fingerprints picked from stones that were found there then they will be able to find the culprits," Shollei stated on Monday.

She added that the stoning of the former Prime Minister's chopper was the doing of a few criminal elements, which each society has.

However , she expressed displeasure on President Uhuru Kenyatta's remarks on Sunday over the Uasin Gishu incident, equating the President's remarks to incitement.

She also accused Uhuru of keeping quiet when incidences of violence were meted on the Deputy President in Kenol, Kondele and Narumoru, among other places.

"My bone of contention is that we have had violence before in Kenol, Narumoru, in Kondele on the deputy president's convoy, I didn't hear a statement from the Head of State," Shollei said.

President Kenyatta on Sunday said the country would have been plunged into chaos had Raila been hurt in the chopper attack in Eldoret.

While addressing a roadside rally after attending a church service in Pipeline area, Nairobi, President Kenyatta said the attack on Raila could have triggered chaos and violence in the country.

“Why stone Baba’s helicopter? What did that helicopter do to you? What if something bad happened? What if that stone hit him? Don't you think Kenya would be burning by now?” the President asked.

“That is not something anybody would want,” he said as he called for tolerance ahead of the August 9 general election.

Raila's chopper was attacked on Friday when he attended the burial of businessman Mzee Jackson Kibor.

The ODM leader was in the company of MP Junet Mohamed and a section of leaders allied to him from the Rift Valley region.
