A nominated Member of Parliament has said some of the politicians who decamped from the Jubilee party only did so after they felt betrayed.

David Sankok, nominated MP for people living with disabilities, said President Uhuru Kenyatta betrayed his 2013 and 2017 supporters and die-hard politicians by shifting his allegiance from his deputy William Ruto to ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Sankok said that Uhuru went ahead and endorsed his previous opponent, Raila, as Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate, instead of endorsing his deputy William Ruto as he had earlier promised.

According to him, this only led to mass decamping by most politicians who were elected on a Jubilee ticket.

"Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta has betrayed the eight million supporters of Jubilee who woke up and came out to vote for him... Instead, he went to hire the opponent they came out and voted against," he said.

Some of the politicians who have decamped from Jubilee in the last three years are former Senate Majority whip Kimani Wamatangi, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, and others.

Sankok further said that a handshake between Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto is unattainable.

This is after Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru on Tuesday appealed to the President to have a handshake with Ruto to mend fences between the two.

Sankok added that the President has been intimidating his former supporters in the National Assembly.

"I was dewhipped from the National Cohesion and Equal Opportunities Committee . I was there just to represent persons with disabilities who don't get the same opportunities as we do," he said.

He said many other leaders were also dewhipped for supporting Ruto and criticizing the President for his actions.

He further stated that Uhuru has been spreading lies about them.

He was referring to the President's Saturday meeting with the Kikuyu elders at the State House.

He (Sankok) appealed to Uhuru to use the national language every time he is talking about people who do not understand his native tongue.

"We want to tell the president please if you're talking about MPs who wanted to allegedly impeach you and some of us don't come from your tribe, use the national language."

Sankok dismissed the impeachment claims saying Ruto and his allies cannot impeach a president they supported for four years. (2002,2013 and twice in 2017.)
