Education CS George  Magoha has said teachers involved in examination malpractices will lose their jobs.

While addressing the media on Monday, Magoha said the Education Ministry will not let any teacher who is a party to examination malpractices to go unpunished.

“We shall punish both students and teachers involved in the vice. Wait and see. It is not a joke anymore,” Magoha said.

He said in the next two weeks, teachers caught cheating during the examination period will face punitive measures.

“If you are bold enough, go ahead and try. There is a price you shall pay and it is not a very sweet price!” The CS said.

"It is a criminal offence to confuse a young star. Those who are bold and doing so by taking money from these people must be prepared to face the consequences," Magoha said.

He said some teachers were caught with cell phones.

"You can try and we shall catch you and in less than two weeks, you will lose your job."

Some 1.2 million candidates sat their 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams this year.

The tests started on March 7 and were concluded on March 9.

The three-day papers were meant to be sat for in 2021, but that did not happen because the pandemic disrupted the normal school calendar.

This year the council registered 1,225,507 candidates in 28,316 KCPE examination centres as compared to 1,191,752 candidates in 28,467 centres in 2020.
