Magata Bruce tops 2021 KCPE exams with 428 marks

The 2021 KCPE exam started on March 7 and ended on March 9.

Magata Bruce Mackenzie has emerged the top student in the country with 428 Marks in the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam.

Mackenzie was a candidate at the Gilgil Hills Academy.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha announced this on Monday.

Magata was closely followed by Ashley Kerubo from Makini School Kibos with 427 marks.

The total number of students who sat for the 2021 KCPE exam were 1,225,597 across the country in 28,248 centers.

According to Magoha, the general performance increased/reduced compared to the 2020 exam.

The 2021 KCPE exam started on March 7 and ended on March 9.

The performance of male and female candidates was comparable.

Candidates can access their results by sending their index number, followed by the initials KCPE (in capital letters) to 20076.

A total of 315,275 candidates scored between 300-399, while 578,197 scored between 200 to 299 marks

Last year, Faith Mumo from Kari Mwailu Primary School in Makueni county emerged top with 433 marks.

She was followed by Nanzala Wesonga from Chogoria Girls Primary School with 432 marks and Angel Murithi who tied with Samuel Wanyonyi at 431 marks to close the top four slots.

In 2020, 8,091 candidates scored above 400 marks, 282,000 scored between 300 to 399 marks and 589,000 scored 200 to299 marks.
