Bomas of Kenya CEO Peter Gitaa Koria will on Monday be arraigned before a Milimani Law Court.

He is set to face charges in relation to alleged procurement irregularity amounting to Sh8.6 million.

This follows his arrest on Friday by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission sleuths.

Koria spent the weekend in custody.

EACC detectives said he will be arraigned before the Chief Magistrate of the Anti-corruption court at the Milimani law courts in Nairobi.

Koria was among 74 public officers including CEOs suspended from office by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei in September last year.

Koskei took the move based on recommendations by EACC.

But Koria had successfully challenged his suspension with Justice Nduma Nderi of the Employment and Labour Relations Court in Nairobi ordering his immediate reinstatement two weeks ago.

EACC says Koria will be charged following the approval of the same by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The DPP said the decision followed an investigation by the EACC on alleged procurement irregularities and splitting of tenders leading to irregular award of tenders to suppliers in the 2020-21 financial year.

The Judge at the same time said the convict should not be granted remission by the Kenya Prisons Service until the DPP's application and subsequent appeal are heard and determined.

Ali alias Abu Fidaa was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment on April 22, 2024, for various terrorism offences.

The sentence is to run from the date of arrest which was 29th April, 2016.

He remained with four years but the DPP told the court he was to be released on Monday, April 29, 2024, based on the grant of remission.
