Murang'a leaders have sworn to back ODM leader Raila Odinga's presidential bid.

Led by Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni and Murang'a Woman representative Sabina Chege, the leaders urged residents to support them as they campaign for Raila's bid.

They said they will follow President Uhuru Kenyatta's direction on who to back for the presidency.

"As Murang'a leaders we will follow the path that the President will direct us to. We humbly ask for your votes."

Uhuru has endorsed Raila for the presidency.

They added that the party nominations will be free, fair and transparent.

The Ndaragwa MP said some leaders defecting to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) are registered as Jubilee members using their National Identity Cards (ID) and as UDA members via their passports.

Kioni urged the leaders to be honest to themselves and to the Kenyans who support them.

“Please know, that is an electoral offence and is enough to deny you an opportunity to vie,” he warned.

MP Kioni also told Jubilee leaders who resigned to join UDA to quit their positions.

Last week, Wamatangi was kicked out as the Senate Majority Leader after he defected to United Democratic Alliance.

Wamatangi had claimed that he was ready for any consequences saying, “I welcome disciplinary action if it comes. I am not one of the agenda. I do not behold any positions.”

Others present at the meeting were several aspirants from the county.

The leaders reiterated their commitment to the Jubilee party.
