Ruto introduces family, explains why son Nick missed his big day

Ruto was flanked by his family members during his unveiling as presidential candidate.

Deputy President William Samoei Ruto on Tuesday was endorsed as UDA party presidential flagbearer.

During the event, he had the privilege to introduce his loving wife Rachael Ruto and daughters.

Two of his daughters June, Charlene were present while the rest of the children could not make it to the event.

"Nick Ruto could not make it because he was denied permission at his place of work," Ruto said.

Others were still at school during the time the event was being held.

About 5,000 delegates were present to endorse him as the party's presidential flagbearer.

Some of the leaders present were Governor Anne Waiguru, UDA Secretary-General Veronica Maina, chairman Johnstone Muthama, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua and Kandara MP Alice Wahome among others.

Kenya Kwanza leaders led by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula were also present.

Other party leaders include CCK leader Moses Kuria, TSP's Mwangi Kiunjuri, Safina party's Jimi Wanjigi among others.
