Deputy President William Ruto has told his opponents that he is prepared to face them in the August 9 polls.

Speaking on Tuesday, the DP promised United Democratic Alliance delegates that he will deliver victory to them, in the coming polls.

"To our partners and opponents, we are prepared for you," Ruto said during his address in Kasarani.

"I'm determined to give you a campaign you will be proud of and a win for our party."

The Deputy President said it has been an honour serving Kenyans in that capacity, having been the first elected DP.

"I will forever be grateful to my friend the President for this opportunity."

He added that he has always discharged his duties faithfully as deputy president and at no time did he fail to deliver on any task he was assigned by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ruto spoke after he was endorsed by the UDA National Delegates Conference to vie for the country's top job under the party.

During the event, UDA delegates unanimously endorsed Deputy President William Ruto as the party’s presidential candidate in the August 9 General Elections.

The delegates endorsed Ruto after a closed door session.

The DP was accompanied by his wife Rachel.

Among the leaders present were Governor Anne Waiguru, UDA Secretary-General Veronica Maina, chairman Johnstone Muthama, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua and Kandara MP Alice Wahome.

Businessman Jimi Wanjigi was also among guests attending the United Democratic Alliance delegates conference at Kasarani.

Wanjigi arrived at Kasarani a few minutes past noon on Tuesday, in the company of Chama Cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria.
