After a one hour closed-door session with the UDA delegates, Ruto arrived back at the stadium dressed differently.

Ruto wore a black suit with a yellow dotted tie and his wife wore a yellow skirt suit.

The DP changing his outfit could mean new dawn as he officially steps into the new role of representing his party at the ballot.

“As the presidential candidate of United Democratic Party in the National general election to be held on August 9, I will do justice to all according to the constitution of Kenya, UDA constitution and all laws of Kenya,” he said as the crowd chanted.

The NDC allowed Ruto to discuss, negotiate and enter into coalitions, alliances or mergers ahead of the elections.

Ruto will face Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga in the August elections.

This comes three days after the party’s National Executive Committee declared him the most suitable to face Raila after interviews.

Ruto faced two competitors in the battle for the party’s presidential ticket. They were 23-year-old Nancy Wanjiru and Orina Jephanei.

However, the duo was disqualified on technicalities.

UDA delegates will have a one-hour closed-door session to nominate the party leaders.
