Thirdway Alliance Kenya Party has called for the immediate resignation of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

Party leader Ekuru Aukot said the duo has violated various provisions of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, and the honourable thing to do is to resign.

“Thirdway Alliance Kenya now demands that both of you – Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto- must resign forthwith and pave way for a caretaker government. There are constitutional mechanisms to fill in that void,” he said.

In an open letter addressed to both, Aukot states that Kenyan citizens have lost trust in the duo, claiming leadership failure as demonstrated by skyrocketing cost of living and runaway corruption.

While addressing the President, Aukot claimed that not long after  Uhuru was re-elected in October 2017, he not only abdicated his responsibilities of office but also decided to use public resources and powers bestowed on him to plan for succession politics.

Aukot said that events that followed the March 9, 2018 handshake revealed a well pre-planned scheme where Uhuru has been running a project to install his preferred successor as president of Kenya.

“On March 9, 2018, you launched the handshake which we all mistakenly believed was an initiative to foster peace and stability in the country. It is an open secret that massive public resources have been expended by your administration in pursuit of these succession schemes.”

Thirdway Alliance Kenya noted that after the collapse of the BBI, the head of state went ahead and actively participated in promoting the Azimio coalition.

“The meetings held at State House Nairobi and the Sagana III are clear pointers that you have decided to use state resources to promote the candidature of your preferred political project,” Aukot added.

He also accused DP Ruto of using the public-owned Deputy President’s residence in Karen to launch political activities for the United Democratic Party (UDA).

He said Ruto converted taxpayers’ financed residence into a campaign office for his political party, where he receives UDA members and hosts defectors from other political parties.

“He (Ruto) and his associates have been assembling at the same Karen facility to issue statements criticizing the same government that promised Kenyans will transform the economy and the lives of the people,” he added.

Aukot further alleged that the dereliction and chronic absenteeism from duty, the Deputy President, who is on taxpayers’ payroll, continues to draw a salary and all attendant benefits even when he does not discharge the functions which he was elected for.

As a  result, the Third Thirdway Alliance Kenya has called for the resignation of Uhuru and Ruto, citing a lack of trust from citizens.
