Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power supply outage on several parts of the country on Tuesday.

In a statement on Monday evening, KPLC published a list of regions that will experience a blackout on various durations.

The affected counties include Nairobi, Nandi, Homabay, Migori and Mombasa.

According to KPLC, the power outage in Nairobi will be between 9 am and 5pm.  The areas that will be affected are parts of Kileleshwa and Riverside.

In Nandi County, power supply in Sigot will be interrupted from 10 am to 3pm.

Kadel, Nyangweso and Andhiro areas in Homa Bay are said to experience blackout between 9am and 2pm.

The five hour power outage in Migori will affect Bondo Kosiemo area from 9am to 2pm.

In Mombasa county, part of Likoni will have no power from 9am to 3pm.

Last week, KPLC announced nationwide power supply outage following the collapse of towers on transmission power lines.

"We have lost power supply due to collapsed towers on the Kiambere-Embakasi highs voltage transmission power line at 10:45 am this morning," the company said.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have identified a section of managers at the Kenya Power Company for grilling and subsequent possible prosecution over last week’s nationwide power outage.

So far up to five managers have been grilled over the collapse of four towers in the Nairobi-Kiambere Power transmission line.

Police plan to ask the Office of Director of Public Prosecution to charge the managers with among others economic sabotage and negligence to duties.

This was after it emerged the four towers were intentionally weakened before the collapse of the cables causing a national blackout.

Further, the DCI has obtained evidence to show the managers in charge of maintaining the lines were alerted about its status last November but failed to act.

“There are witnesses who even recorded the state of the cables and towers and sent to the managers asking them to take action in vain. Contractors of a site there saw the towers lose and alerted the management but no action was taken,” said a senior official aware of the probe.

Senior managers including acting General Manager, Network Management, Chief Engineer Transmission countrywide, Countrywide Management Security Service Unit, the chief security officer Nairobi Region and a technician have been questioned.

More have been summoned for grilling sessions on Monday January 17.
