Suspects in the Sh3.5 billion Anglo Leasing scandal have objected to the production of 32 documents the prosecution intends to rely on during the ongoing trial.

The documents are from National Treasury, Immigration and Office of the President. The prosecution obtained them to prove their case against former PSs Joseph Magari, Dave Mwangi and David Onyonka and businessmen Deepak and Rashmi Kamani.

The documents form part of the prosecution's case.

Defence lawyers Ahmednasir Abdullahi and Edward Oonge told magistrate Felix Kombo they will be listing which documents they are objecting to and on what grounds. An inventory will be made on the same.

The magistrate directed parties to appear before him tomorrow as they make submissions on the opposed documents.

In the case, the Kamanis, the late David Mwiraria, former Permanent Secretaries David Mwangi and Joseph Magari, David Onyonka, Sound Day Corporation and Apex Finance are accused of committing an economic crime.

It is alleged that between October 30, 2003 and April 14, 2004 in Nairobi, they conspired with others to engage in a scheme to defraud the government of Sh3. 5 billion through a suppliers credit contract agreement for the modernisation of the Police Security Equipment and Accessories Project.
