Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of neglecting the mandate he was given by the people of Kenya and becoming a Nasa campaigner.

"I want say that because his seat cannot be vacant, he should vacate the seat for William Ruto and join the opposition for the remaining one year," he said on Tuesday.

His remarks come a day after the Head of State, while speaking to leaders from the Ukambani region said he would support any candidate fronted by the National Super Alliance (Nasa) in next year’s presidential election.

Kuria said Uhuru has the right to back whoever he wants for the presidency in 2022 as an individual.

"Ukiwaunga mkono kwa nafsi yako kama Uhuru Kenyatta hakuna mtu atakuwa na shida," Kuria said in a video shared on his Facebook page.

This loosely translates to, "If you support them on your own behalf, no one will have a problem."

Kuria also stated that Uhuru is a threat to the unity of Kenya.

"He continues meeting MPs and leaders on the basis of tribes; yesterday it was Kambas, another time it will be Luos and another people from the Coast."

He faulted the president for not taking it upon himself to explain to members of the Jubilee party what the handshake with ODM leader Raila Odinga and the Building Bridges Initiative was about and ask for their support.

He added that the people of the Mt Kenya region are on their own and it's time they plan ahead of 2022.

Uhuru on Monday declared that he will pick his 2022 successor from among the Nasa principals if they unite and agree on a single candidate.

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, Uhuru said the unity of the Nasa chiefs will determine if they will form the next government.

"Steve (Kalonzo), listen to your people and what they are saying. Unite in Nasa then we shall see what will happen. Whatever you will agree on is what I will go with," Uhuru said.

Nasa comprises Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula.

Former Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto, was also part of the alliance.

Uhuru's remarks have no settled well with Deputy President William Ruto who responded on Tuesday morning asking what will happen to the 8 millions Kenyans who voted for him thrice.

"EUCHO!!NGAI FAFA MWATHANI!! So, what happens to the Thurakus, the kumìrà kùmèrà contingent, the 8 million of us?" Ruto said.

"None, no youth, no woman, no man of the 8M who woke up early and voted three times for UK/WsR ticket merit support? Sawa tu! Tutajipanga na support ya MUNGU," he added.
