A Nairobi lawyer has been awarded a prestigious Banking and finance award in the International Advisory experts (IAE) Awards 2020.
Samuel Onuonga Makori, the Managing Partner of Makori & Karimi Advocates (M&K Advocates) was ranked the second best law firm in East Africa.
The International Advisory Experts group which references and ranks professionals and Firms in 140 jurisdictions, awarded professionals who have demonstrated excellence over the past 12 months in the fields of Law, Finance and Tax and have received exceptional praise from their peers.
Speaking to the Star about the award, Makori said he was happy being selected by an international firm as the second best law firm it was an honor to him.
‘’ When I was notified about the award it was a pleasant surprise because the Award is a significant recognition and being an international award demonstrates that the values we have at M&K Advocates namely integrity and excellence have been recognized across the Borders," he said.
He said that as a law firm, they will work harder to serve their clients and the country.
"In addition because this award is peer driven meaning that it is awarded to individual based on ranking by fellow members and colleagues within the Legal profession it is to me even more valuable We shall continue to endeavor as a Firm and also in my personal capacity as the Principal Partner of the Firm to deliver top notch Legal Services,’’ he added.
"All winners are shortlisted and then awarded by an independent research group after a rigorous vetting and evaluation process. " he added.
Makori said that being among the best lawyers globally is something that he had looked forward to.
"We as a firm has always done our best to serve our client, the nation and the world at large, it has not been a business as usual but endorsement and sacrifice," he added.
Makori advised upcoming lawyers young lawyers to remain disciplined in the field and be honest, hard work and respectful.
"Lets young upcoming lawyers do their best by upholding integrity, honesty and hard work because it is the only way to succeed," he added.
Samuel and M&K Advocates will now be listed in an IAE international publication covering Legal Advisory expertise in the East African region.
