A police officer and a gang member were killed in a shoot-out

in Dandora area, Nairobi, on Tuesday night.

An officer said five members of the gang started shooting at police after realising they were being trailed.

"The officer was in the company of three others who were pursuing a gang that had been attacking and robbing pedestrians at a bridge," he said.

Starehe OCPD Alice Kimeli said four suspects escaped and that a pistol was found.

The bodies were taken to City Mortuary.

The incident follows another on January 12, when a police officer was

by three armed thugs at Check-Point Shika Adabu, in Mombasa county.

Nelson Mwadime was escorting a maize flour lorry to Diani when the suspects who were on a motorcycle killed him.

A former CID officer, Moses Muchangi, was also shot by criminals who at 11.45am at Otiende Shopping centre in Langata, Nairobi.
