Malava MCAs under Kenya Kwanza alliance have asked President-elect William Ruto to consider Cleophas Malala and Beatrice Inyangala for national government jobs.
The MCAs spoke at a Malava hotel on Friday saying Ruto and his running mate Rigathi Gachagua garnered a substantial amount of votes in Kakamega courtesy of the former Kakamega senator and his running mate Inyangala.
Malala was the ANC flagbearer in the Kakamega gubernatorial polls on August 29 but lost narrowly to ODM's Fernandez Barasa.
Led by Kabras West MCA David Ndakwa they said Malala and Inyangala should not be left in the political cold for 5 years.
"We wish to address the President-elect William Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula to put the people of Kabras on the national map," Ndakwa said.
"We gave you many votes, we have provided an MP in Malulu Injendi(ANC) and seven MCAs. In return we now demand our position in the national government to show the value of our vote."
Ndakwa said they were optimistic that the Supreme Court was going to uphold Ruto’s victory and Kakamega should not be left out of government.
“In Vihiga the ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi will be the Chief Minister, in Bungoma Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula will become the National Assembly Speaker so Kakamega must get something,” he said.
The MCAs said Malala should be given a Cabinet Secretary position and his running mate should at least be a Principal Secretary.
Kakamega which has 844,709 registered voters, gave Ruto William Ruto 141,166 against Azimio candidate Raila Odinga's 357,857 votes in the August 9 presidential polls.
Ward reps present were Butali Chegulo ward MCA-elect Kevin Mahelo, and David Kivishi( Manda Shivanga ward) among others.
