I won't entertain corruption, Ottichilo says as he takes oath

Vihiga governor Wilber Ottichilo warned county employees of dire consequences if they engage in corruption.

He said corruption has been a major pandemic that has hindered the majority of devolved units in delivering development.

Ottichilo said his administration will ensure devolution funds are well utilized to enhance service delivery across the devolved unit.

 "My administration will not entertain corruption. I will form an internal anti-corruption unit that will deal with the vice. I want money for Vihiga people to benefit them in terms of development and service delivery," said Ottichilo.

“I will fight the vice in all the manners to ensure no single coin goes out of the initial plan to benefit locals.” 

The county boss was speaking at Kidundu Stadium during his inauguration on Thursday.

He was sworn together with his deputy governor Wilberforce Kitiezo.

Ottichilo said he will not spare any of the county executive or staff who will be found practising corrupt deals in his administration.

He further said he will serve county residents equally in all the five sub-counties, and unite all four communities in the county to ensure they work together.

The four communities include Maragoli, Banyore, Tiriki and Terik.

"I want all communities in Vihiga county to come together and unite. We do not want the ethnicity of Bunyore, Maragoli, Tiriki and Terik. We must work together in harmony," said Ottichilo.

Leaders present included Vihiga senator-elect Godfrey Osotsi, Vihiga women representative-elect Beatrice Adagala, Emuhaya MP-elect Omboko Milemba, and Luanda MP-elect Dick Maungu.

They all promised to support governor Ottichilo to deliver on his manifesto.

 Osotsi asked Members of the Vihiga County assembly to work in harmony with governor Ottichilo for progressive development to be realized.

 He said as a senator, he will ensure he plays his oversight role smartly and he will not spare those executive officers who will be tempted to venture into corruption.

"I will play my oversight role in a smart manner to ensure, transparent, honest and trusted leadership in Vihia county executive. The MCAs should also work in harmony with the governor," urged Osotsi.
