Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa has urged state agencies to put in place policies to curb exam cheating.

The MP said there was a need for the government to work closely with stakeholders to invest in monitoring and evaluation for effective results.

Wamalwa spoke on Wednesday at Friends Sirende Secondary School in Kimini during the KCPE briefing.

He urged learners not to be anxious when preparing for exams, to put God first and be confident.

Trans Nzoia county commissioner Samson Ojwang assured candidates of their security.

Ojwang said the county and subcounty security teams had put in place measures to ensure the examination papers, containers and centres were properly guarded before, during and after the exercise.

He urged centre managers to ensure examinations were managed in strict adherence to the Kenya National Examination Council regulations.

“All school heads, invigilators and supervisors must make sure the exams are free of any malpractice,” the county commissioner said.

He warned politicians against disrupting the scheduled national examinations.

“We are appealing to leaders to desist from holding rallies in our schools to give candidates ample time to prepare and write their exams,” Ojwang said.

He warned parents, teachers and candidates against falling prey to fraudsters claiming to have the 2021 KCSE and KCPE examination papers.

“There are no national exam papers on the streets, we will firmly deal with the fraudsters,” Ojwang said.

Present during the event was the county director of education Luke Chebet and county teachers' service director Jamal Ahmed.
