The National Treasury CS Ukur Yatani has been urged to fast-track disbursement of funds to the CDF board to ensure projects are implemented.

The National Assembly Select Committee on Constituency Development Funds attributed the delay of development projects to the late release of funds.

“The delay is not normally by the board, what normally happens is the Treasury taking a long time before disbursing funds,” committee chairman Emmanuel Wangwe said.

Wangwe said the acting CS should ensure transfers are made as quickly as possible so the board can transfer the money downwards.

The committee chair who was inspecting projects funded by CDF in Matayos said the most important thing is how the funds are utilised.

The MPs, including Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi, visited Matayos constituency to benchmark the projects funded by CDF, especially education.

“The area MP [Geoffrey Odanga] has been very instrumental in the House and we are here to see the projects he has implemented and learn from them,” Wangwe said.

The team visited St Jude Nang’oma Secondary, Mundika and Lung’a primary schools in the company of Odanga.

They had planned to visit Likuyani constituency on Thursday
