Former MP, David Sankori has pledged to support  State House Comptroller, Katoo Ole Metito gubernatorial bid for  Kajiado in 2027.

Speaking to the Star on Friday, Sankori alleged that he was ousted in a controversial election on Thursday as the chair of the Kajiado Maa council of elders due to his support to Metito.

“There was no politicking as they claim but some of them are not happy because I have declared the support Metito for governor in 2027,” he said.

“That election was stage-managed after I told the council members that  I was going to support Metito,” Sankori claimed.

Going further, Sankori stated that he remains steadfast in supporting the governments of the day.

The former MP also said the election that ousted him from the chairmanship will now give ample time to influence the election of Metito as Kajiado governor in 2027.

He said he will use his free time to support my governor candidate in 2027.”

“They have given me the freedom I needed most. As a free man, I will have the freedom to traverse the region in looking for Metoto’s votes. When I supported Lenku, I did it at a personal level at my own will,” Sankori said.

The Kajiado County Maa Council of Elders on Thursday night picked Richard Oloitiptip as their new chairman.

Oloitiptip of the Iseuri age set replaced Sankori, whom the elders accused of "too much politicking".

The elders elected Oloitiptip and several other elders representing the various sections of the Maasai communities in Kajiado.

By voting in Oloitiptip, the leadership of the council was rotated to the Ilkisonko section.

Responding to the outcome of the election, Sankori said he is happy that he is no longer the chairman of the council but he will remain a bonafide member.

Others elected in Kajiado on Thursday evening are William Ole Kasio (Vice Chairman), Reverend David Metoyu (Secretary General), Daniel Ole Kiok Deputy Secretary) and Moses Ole Nailole as the Patron.

The elders called for the respect of elected leaders and warned against early politicking.

They backed the Kenya Kwanza government headed by President William Ruto and the County Government under the stewardship of Governor Joseph Ole Lenku.

In his acceptance speech, Oloitiptip said political affiliation was a personal matter and right and could not be introduced in the affairs of the elders because it would be divisive.

"Elections were held. Those who won must be given time to work. We give direction in the best interest of the community. The council does not entertain the pursuit of selfish interests," said Oloitiptip.

"We are so cosmopolitan and the issues we solve are so sensitive that we strive to work with both levels of government," he added.
