Trans Nzoia Deputy Governor Phillomenah Kapkory has suspended her duties in the county claiming threats to her life.
Kapkory has written a letter to Governor George Natembeya saying she was unable to work in the county due to threats from the staff at the governor's office.
In the letter dated October 4th, Kapkory has listed some of the text messages which she alleges were sent to her by staff from the governor's office.
"Based on this and many other threatening messages from your staff, I fear for my life," Kapkory said.
She further said that her security at the county assembly had been highly compromised and that she would not be able to offer her services from the county until further notice.
"I am available by phone and email and if there is a county office in Nairobi I can work from there until am convinced that it's safe to come back," Kapkory said.
It's not clear what sparked the exchange between Kapkory and staff at the governor's office and Kapkory could not be reached on the phone to give further details.
Governor Natembeya did not pick up calls and did not respond to texts from the Star on the claims made by his deputy.
Sources said Kapkory had flown out of the country for unknown matters after writing to the governor.
