Narok Governor-Elect Patrick ole Ntutu has promised to work with all elected MCAs in the county for cohesion and development.

“My administration will work for all the people of Narok regardless of who they supported in the just-concluded general election,” he said.

Ntutu spoke on Saturday when he met all the 29 elected MCAs in the county at Fairmount Maasai Mara Safari Club.

Ololmasani ward representative was missing after the MCA election was postponed following the death of an aspirant.

The governor-elect said he decided to meet the leaders because he wants to start his new job immediately after being sworn in.

“After swearing in, I will start traversing the whole county and I'm happy that the MCAs have all agreed to support my leadership fully so that in the first 100 days we can change this county,” Ntutu said.

The governor-elect was flanked by deputy governor-elect Tamalinye Koech.

Ntutu is set to be sworn into office on Thursday at the William ole Ntimama Stadium.

Judge Chacha Mwita and magistrate Samuel Mungai will preside over the ceremony.

In the first sitting, the newly elected MCAs are expected to pick various county assembly leaders.

Names of 17 nominated MCAs drawn from both the majority and minority wings are expected to join during Ntutu's inauguration on Thursday.

Ntutu extended an olive branch to his political nemesis, former Narok North MP Moitalel ole Kenta, urging him to work with him for the benefit of the county.

He called for concerted efforts among elected leaders to promote development in the county.

Meanwhile, a Narok national chamber of commerce official has asked residents to support the incoming governor for development.

Director Hezron Koori also urged the contestants who lost to Ntutu to support his administration so he can fulfil the promises he has made.

“I congratulate the governor-elect on his victory and wish him the best as he takes the county to higher heights,” he said.

Koori urged Kenta to rethink his position and drop the move to go to court to challenge Ntutu's win.

“It is not bad to go to court but Kenta and team should work closely with Ntutu because at the end of the day, what the common mwananchi needs is service delivery,” he said.

Koori further urged residents to remain united as political differences are never personal.

“With the peaceful environment, the business community and other people will have ample time to conduct their day-to-day activities without any hindrance,” the director said.

“Now that the elections are over, we need to get down to normal business. It does not matter which camp you were supporting, we need to work together as usual.”

Koori said the new governor is up to the task, having worked in different capacities in government and in Parliament.

Ntutu was declared the winner of Narok governor race after garnering 158,100 votes, while Kenta got 148,270 votes.

After the polls, Kenta claimed the exercise was marred by malpractice and said he would challenge Ntutu's win in court.
