Former Labour CAS Patrick ole Ntutu has been declared the winner in the Narok Governor race.

Ntutu who was vying for the UDA party ticket garnered 158,100 votes against ODM's Moitalel  Kenta who got 148,270 votes.

The declaration of the county governor results was made at National Tallying Centre in Bomas of Kenya.

The venue for the announcement of results was changed by Narok County Returning Officer Dr Sidney Namulungu.

He cited a breach of the peace at the county tallying centre in Maasai Mara University as the reason for the move.

On Saturday, the declaration of the results was postponed after the two teams clashed on who won the gubernatorial seat.

At one point, the supporters of Kenta close the Narok-Mahiu Highway protesting over alleged rigging and malpractices reportedly experienced during the voting exercise.

On the hand, the supporters of Ntutu closed the Narok-Bomet road for one hour pushing the electoral commission to declare Ntutu as the winner of the governor contest.

Kenta opposed the results saying there were many cases of malpractices witnessed in the exercise.

On his part, Ntutu called on the IEBC to declare him the winner of the race after emerging as the top candidate in the contest.

The differences between the two parties started when Kenta and his supporters opposed the Kilgoris constituency results for governor.

They claimed the electoral commission officials were compromised to manipulate the election results.

The incidences witnessed in Kilgoris Boys Secondary School where Kenta team stormed the tallying centre made the electoral body officers transfer the tallying to the county tallying centre.
