Claims of massive rigging mar Lenku's win

Katoo, Nkedianye refuse to concede defeat

The IEBC on Saturday declared ODM’s Joseph Lenku Kajiado governor-elect after garnering 117,600 votes in the Tuesday polls.

Out-going Kajiado South MP Katoo ole Metito (UDA) came second with 111,725 votes as former governor David Nkedianye (Jubilee) garnered 75,337 votes. 

Ambrose Kago (Independent) managed 2,661 votes in the hotly contested seat.

However, allegations of massive rigging have marred Lenku's win with both Metito and Nkedianye declining to concede.

In his acceptance speech, Lenku thanked all those who contributed to his victory.

"Receive abundant blessings from our good Lord and may you never lack for the sacrifices you have made to ensure Kajiado continues to have able leadership,” Lenku said.

Lenku told his competitors that there is always another chance for them to win.

In the senatorial race, Samuel Seki (UDA) garnered 125,696 ahead of Judith Pareno (ODM) who managed 99,943 votes and Moses Sakuda of Jubilee got 56,380 votes.

Gideon Toimasi (Wiper) scooped 8,821 ahead of Sonia Gitau (Usawa) who received 8,267 and Simon Nkeri (TSP) received 7,474.

Leah Sankaire (UDA) was declared the winner in the woman representative race with 122,764 votes ahead of Jenifer Moinkett of Jubilee (87,312).
