The government has disbursed Sh109.93 million to Inua Jamii beneficiaries in Laikipia county.

Laikipia Social Development Service coordinator Zephania Maina told KNA in Nanyuki town that 13,741 beneficiaries have received the stipend in their respective bank accounts.

“The cash transfer is for the March-April and May-June payment cycles. Some 10,722 older persons, 2446 orphan and vulnerable children and 573 persons with severe disabilities are each getting Sh8,000,” he said.

Maina urged the beneficiaries and their caregivers to carry their Inua Jamii card, beneficiary’s and caregiver's national identification card for seamless payment process.

He urged beneficiaries to use the stipend for intended purposes like buying medication and other essential household commodities.

Maina warned cons against taking advantage of the vulnerable groups and appealed to beneficiaries to report any issues of malpractice to authorities. 

Inua Jamii Cash Transfer is a government programme under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, which is aimed at uplifting the lives of poor and vulnerable citizens through regular and reliable bi-monthly stipends.
