Sh47 million disbursed to Inua Jamii recipients in Machakos

Over 5,000 beneficiaries will receive Sh8,000 each

The government has initiated payment for 5,886 Inua Jamii cash transfer beneficiaries in Mwala, Machakos.

Gender and social development officer Francis Musyoki said the beneficiaries will each receive Sh8,000 totaling Sh47 million.

The beneficiaries include 5,100 older persons, 655 orphaned and vulnerable children and 131 persons with disability.

“The money is for the March-April and May-June cycles. The payments started on Tuesday through the six contracted service providers,” Musyoki said.

He urged the beneficiaries and caregivers to utilise the money for self-advancement.

“We are reminding the beneficiaries to use the money for the purpose it is intended for,” Musyoki said.

The official further urged the payment service providers and beneficiaries to adhere to the Covid-19 protocols owing to the current surge of infections in the country.
