Kiminini MP  Chris Wamalwa has said attempts to malign Deputy President William Ruto with cheap political propaganda will fail miserably.

The MP on Sunday denounced those undermining the Deputy President, saying the remarks by President Uhuru Kenyatta linking his principal assistant to plotting impeachment were imaginary.

"The President shouldn’t be throwing mud at his deputy at this time when he is barely left with about four months to complete his term," he said.

Addressing congregants at the African Inland church in Kitale, Wamalwa dismissed the impeachment claims as baseless and accused those behind them of trying to whip up emotions.

“How possible could it have been for Parliament to impeach the President? The National Assembly should be spared this," he said.

Wamalwa said, “It is not possible and will not be possible even in the near future because doing so would plunge the country into an unfamiliar situation, the President remains a symbol of national unity."

He said all of Western Kenya stands to benefit if Ruto clinches the presidency, compared with his rival, ODM leader Raila Odinga.

"Western Kenya hasn’t benefited from President Kenyatta’s development during his tenure as head of state," Wamalwa said.

Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula and his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi, who are principals in Kenya Kwanza Alliance, forged a political relationship they believe is beneficial to the Mulembe Nation," he said.

“The two principals in Kenya Kwanza decided to look for friends who are trustworthy and who can be depended upon to improve the economy of our people. One of the friends is Deputy President William Ruto," he said.

Wamalwa, who aims to succeed outgoing Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba, said the welfare of Western Kenya never improved after the handshake between the President and Raila.

"The handshake deal has never benefited the people of Western Kenya despite our two spokespersons, Wetang'ula and Mudavadi, having supported the former Premier during the 2017  elections," he added.

Wamalwa expressed confidence he will form the next government reflecting the face of Trans Nzoia.
