Independent candidate Fatuma Mohamed has won the Migori woman representative seat.

The Friday morning victory was announced by the county returning officer, who said Mohamed garnered 154,538 votes followed by ODM candidate Ghati Denittah, who got 117,591 votes.

Mohammed lost the ODM primaries to Denittah and opted to run as an independent.

ODM leader Raila Odinga had asked Denittah to step down but she declined.

Her clinching the primaries prompted Mohammed to allege rigging, adding that her loyalty to the party was not appreciated.

"I have been very fair to the party. Why me? Why me? I have been spending millions and I sold my house worth Sh25 million to prove that I want to be a woman representative," she said in April.
