The Azimio-One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Friday toured four constituencies in Nyamira county to popularise his bid.

Raila, who was accompanied by his running mate Martha Karua and other political leaders, assured the residents that his government will be inclusive and their basic needs will be catered for.

“There are several development requests you have made that is geared towards improving your livelihoods and I promise that I will ensure that those requests are implemented to make Nyamira a better place to live and invest in,” Raila said.

"I will ensure that education will be free from primary to the tertiary level so that all school children, especially those from vulnerable backgrounds, get an opportunity to pursue career courses of their choice."

Raila further guaranteed that if elected, he will assist youths in the boda boda industry, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Jua kali traders access loans at manageable interest rates.

The ODM chief said they will be given a repayment period of seven years because by then their businesses will have started accruing profits and stabilised.

On her part, Karua said that the Azimio government will give women an equal share in running of government business and the opportunity to be on the decision making table should they be elected.

"Women are already included in the government system and we should ensure that we don’t lose this chance which has never been easy in the history of Kenya," she said.

'It is time that Kenyan women support one of their own to fight for their rights and ensure the affirmative action of women representation is implemented.

“My key role when elected into office is to ensure that all the corrupt deals ailing our country, thus stagnating us economically, will be dealt with once and for all."

Karua clarified that the teargas scare at Gusii Stadium on Thursday last week should not intimidate anyone from voting them into office.

She said she returned to Gusii land through in Nyamira county to assure the residents that there is no cause for alarm and that she will continue campaigning in the entire country without any prejudice.
