This comes barely days after he endorsed senator James Orengo to succeed him at a funeral attended by Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

He had said during the funeral that as an incumbent, it was important to give an opinion on who is to succeed him.

Rasanga noted that he had only one role to play which was to hand over to Orengo in August.

Rasanga will be retiring from office in August. He says his aim is to ensure that Raila gets 100 per cent votes come that day.

Currently, those in the race for the Siaya Governor seat include James Orengo, Bella Akinyi and deputy governor James Okumbe, who will fight for the ODM party ticket.

Also in the race, is former Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo on a UDM party ticket and will be deputized by former Police spokesperson Charles Owino who stepped down from the position and moved to the same party with Gumbo.

However, speaking to the media, the Alego Usonga Parliamentary aspirant Kut who expressed confidence in clinching the party ticket noted that they were ready and prepared for the party nominations set for April 19 this month within the county.

He urged the party to ensure that the process is free and fair.

"We are ready, the only thing we were waiting for was for the party to announce the dates," he said, urging all aspirants to maintain peace during that period.

Currently, those in the race for the Alego Usonga constituency include Kut, nominated MCA Jackline Oduol and the incumbent Samuel Atandi.

Atandi has always maintained that he will retain his seat as the MP and serve for a second term.
