Shun politicians funding violence, Kidero urges voters

Says Homa Bay, Kenya cannot realise its economic development prospects if violence takes the lead

Homa Bay gubernatorial aspirant Evans Kidero has urged residents to refrain from engaging in violence as the campaigns season gains momentum.

Kidero expressed concern that youths are used to perpetrate political violence by selfish individuals are later dumped.

He cautioned residents, particularly the youth against engaging in acts of violence funded by politicians.

“Violence has no satisfactory results, no one gets a trophy for funning violence hence our youths should refrain from such acts,” Kidero said.

Kidero was speaking, Friday, while visiting a 2008 post election victim Bernard Orinda at Chuowe beach in Karachuonyo constituency.

Orinda who lost eleven members of his family and property in 2007/08 skirmishes asked residents to avoid violence.

Kidero said his government will empower Orinda and other 2007/2008 post election victims in Homa Bay if elected governor.

“I will ensure they drive the unity campaigns as ambassadors of peace in the country,” he said.

Kidero said youth potential should be tapped for economic growth not violence.

The former Nairobi governor said Homa Bay and Kenya cannot realise its economic development prospects if violence takes the lead.

“Let politicians irrespective of party affiliations play peaceful and issue-based politics for the good of all residents and Kenya,” he said.

Kidero was in company of former Homa Bay executive for trade Carilus Ademba and former MCA Patricia Ouma.

Kidero campaigned in Chuowe, Kobuya, Nyakwere and Kobala markets in Karachuonyo constituency.

He urged residents to vote for ODM leader Raila Odinga for president because he has the capacity to do great things for Kenya.

 “It is only Raila who has demonstrated the ability to unite all Kenyans and peacefully steer this country to greater heights,” Kidero said.

Ademba said politicians who use young people in their campaign rallies to cause chaos for should be barred from contesting.

 “Let us avoid politicians who drag our feet backwards by using youths to cause violence,” Ademba said.
